One seriously hurt in boat explosion at Lake of the Ozarks

CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ) -

One person was flown to the hospital after a boat exploded at the Lake of the Ozarks on Thursday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that 35-year-old Amanda Kingston suffered serious injuries in the explosion around 3:20 p.m. The patrol said the boat, operated by 78-year-old Benny E. Thomas, exploded from a "fuel and propulsion/generator related" incident.

The explosion happened at the 13 mile mark near Wideford Hollow Cove at Point Oasis.

The report said a helicopter took Kingston to University Hospital in Columbia. Thomas had minor injuries and went to Lake Regional Hospital via ambulance.
