Missouri AG warns of Super Bowl ticket scams

KMIZ

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey warned Missourians of possible Super Bowl ticket scams in a Wednesday press release, over a week before the big game.

According to the release, Bailey advises that people be vigilant when buying their tickets, and know that if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Bailey offered a few tips for people to keep in mind, including:

  • Making sure you buy your tickets from a trustworthy website,
  • Researching the ticket vendor on the Attorney General's or Better Business Bureau's website for complaints,
  • Buying your ticket with a credit card to ensure your purchase is protected.
  • Shopping on a secure website, which will be indicated if a closed-lock graphic can be seen in the browser.
  • Checking the date, time and location listed on the ticket and making sure it is accurate

Leah Ann Hilgert lives in Jefferson City and said she's been a Chiefs season ticket holder for 22 years. Hilgert said she's gone to the last two Super Bowls the team has played. Hilgert noted buying her tickets from a website. Hilgert said she feels secure in purchasing her tickets from the site, but is still vigilant about inspecting her tickets to be confident she doesn't fall victim to a scam.

"I always make sure it tells me exactly where I'm going to be," Hilgert said. "I don't want to buy something that says you'll be in the first 13 rows., I want to know exactly what I'm getting."
