Mizzou hoops breaks into AP Top-25 for the first time since 2023

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou men's basketball team is one of the Associated Press' Top-25 teams in the nation for the first time since the end of the 2022-23 campaign.

On Monday, the Tigers checked in at No. 22 in the latest AP Poll, following a 15-3 overall start to the year and a 4-1 start to SEC action. Head coach Dennis Gates and company are one of nine Southeastern Conference teams to land in the Top-25.

The ranking was much anticipated by the MU fan base, as Mizzou has begun building up quite a resume for the March. The Tigers are one of just two conference teams to have two wins over a Top-5 opponent, as Gates and company are riding the best start to SEC play in program history.

In Week 11 of the college hoops season, the Tigers locked down their first ranking of the season with a big upset over No. 5 Florida and a trouncing of rival Arkansas. In addition to those victories, Mizzou also boasts a win over then-No. 1 Kansas at home at the beginning of December.
