Bowers, Carroll host alumni basketball game
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Former Mizzou basketball standouts Laurence Bowers and DeMarre Carroll hosted an alumni basketball game with some of the biggest names from both the MU gridiron and hardwood on Saturday.
You can watch the full interviews with some of the players in attendance in the video players below.
Fans in attendance paid a cash donation at the door. All proceeds from the event will go to United Community Builders and the Carroll Family Foundation.
Bowers said the event is for a great cause, but it also serves to help rally the troops and build excitement around two Mizzou programs.
"We're due for a good program. We're due for some wins and championships. I think he [Dennis Gates] is going to be the guy to get us there," he said.
MU football alum Jeremy Maclin was in attendance on Saturday. He said that he wanted to kickstart some excitement for the football season.
"I'm excited about it," he said. "I got a chance to watch Luther [Burden] a few time on tape, just kind of through like the scouting thing, and so I know he's a dynamic player. I know they got a bunch of other guys that can also play, as well. I'm excited to see what they do this year."
