Mizzou baseball gets mid-week win over Western Illinois

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou baseball team made its way to a 9-1 win in a windy mid-week matchup against Western Illinois.

Helias alum Trevor Austin had himself a game. The sophomore brought in a career-high three RBI courtesy of a three run homer in the fourth inning. The Tigers bats did work, as MU put up four runs in the fourth inning and three in the sixth to march to a nine-run night.

Pitcher Holden Phelps tossed two scoreless innings and struck out two to earn the win. Head coach Steve Bieser reached deep into the bullpen, with six pitchers total taking to the bump. The group allowed just one unearned run in the match up.

Up next - Mizzou will host the Kentucky Wildcats in a three-game series, beginning on Thursday at 7 p.m.
