COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou baseball team will open up its season in just seven days on Friday, Feb. 18 against Nicholls State down in Louisiana.

The Tigers will look to make 2022 their bounce-back year, after a 15-36 ending to the season in 2021.

"Our big focus of the get was to kind of handle that team chemistry, that team-building culture," first baseman Torin Montgomery said. "We are a tight group. We feel like a group of brothers and we're happy to get to work every day."

Sixth-year head coach Steve Bieser said his team has come full circle in the offseason.

"It's a group that I'm very proud of by the way they responded to the adversity that we hit last year and to see the way that our upperclassmen came in this year, ready to lead early," he said. "I'm excited. I'm ready to coach this group."
