Columbia representative Steinhoff to run for reelection
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia Democrat said Monday that she plans to seek a second term in the state House.
Kathy Steinhoff, a former Columbia Public Schools teacher and local teachers' union leader, wrote in a social media post Monday that she will seek reelection to the 45th House District. The district covers part of Columbia and takes in areas south of Interstate 70 and west of Providence Road.
Steinhoff, a Democrat, was first elected to the seat in 2022 after she retired from teaching and state legislative districts were redrawn. She has formed a committee for the August 2024 primary. So far, Steinhoff is the only candidate to form a committee to seek the heavily Democratic seat.
She reported having nearly $21,000 on hand for her campaign. Steinhoff plans to kick off her campaign with an Oct. 30 fundraiser at Shakespeare's Pizza.
