Tracking scattered rain today, severe storms possible late tomorrow
TODAY: Scattered showers persist Sunday morning, keeping temperatures cool in the 50s and 60s today. Rain chances begin dropping in the afternoon, possibly allowing for peeks at sunset by Sunday dinner.
TOMORROW: Monday is an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day for the threat of severe storms in the afternoon and evening. Most of the day looks dry as we await a cold front in the evening. This front is expected to produce a line of severe thunderstorms in northwestern Missouri late Monday evening that tracks through our area overnight. All severe hazards are possible Monday night, especially large hail and damaging winds, but a tornado can't be ruled out.
EXTENDED: The cold front responsible for Monday's storms will settle near or just south of the area on Tuesday and could produce another round of severe storms on Tuesday afternoon. Most of Mid-MO is currently clear of this risk as forecasts have consistently pushed the front and severe risk south of our area. However, rain is certainly expected from Tuesday through Thursday, contributing to a flooding risk as rain totals could exceed 2 to 3 inches by late week.
