New Bloomfield loses money for water, sewer project in governor’s line-item budget vetoes
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
New Bloomfield came out of Gov. Mike Parson's budget deliberations a loser of millions meant to improve sewer and water systems.
Parson signed the bills that make up the state budget Friday. The Missouri governor is able to veto particular items in budget bills.
Among those vetoes was $5.6 million for water and sewer system improvements in New Bloomfield. The note from Parson's office listing vetoes on items in the bill only says that lawmakers appropriated more funding in the state budget than requested.
Other funding significant to Mid-Missouri that was stricken from budget bill includes:
- $1 million for improvements to the port serving Howard and Cooper counties;
- $3 million for downtown revitalization in Rolla;
- $2 million for a Boone County law enforcement training center
- $1.4 million for Missouri Task Force 1, an urban search and rescue team based at the Boone County Fire Protection District;
- $15 million for the University of Missouri eMINTS program;
- $2 million for a multimodal transportation facility that would be part of a Jefferson City port on the Missouri River;
- $2.5 million for a Highway 63 overpass in Macon;
- $5 million for a Highway 63 environmental study;
- $500,000 for an airport crash truck for the Jefferson City Fire Department.
The new fiscal year begins Saturday.
