Insurance group CEO announces intent to run for Boone Health Board of Trustees seat
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Gary Thompson, the CEO of Columbia Insurance Group, announced an intent to run for one-of-two open Boone Hospital Trustee seats in a Monday press release.
Thompson will retire from Columbia Insurance Group on Jan. 1, according to the release. He was the CEO for 12 years. He is currently one of six appointed members on the Boone Health Inc. Board of Directors. Thompson stated in the release that he is in the hospital’s executive committee, as well as its audit and finance committee.
The Board of Trustees is made up of five members, currently including Chair Jerry Kennett, Vice Chair Bob McDavid, Secretary Jan Beckett, William “Barry” Orscheln and Judy Starr. Starr had replaced Greg Steinhoff as a trustee after he stepped down in October, according to a Nov. 27 meeting agenda.
The release states that the company generated more than $250 million in revenues and maintains more than $500 million in assets.
Thompson stated in the rlease that he’s running to “to provide some continuity in the hospital’s financial operations as it continues its transition out of a 33-year-long management agreement with St. Louis-based BJC Healthcare.”
