Tracking more rain chances ahead of prolonged dry time
TODAY: Wednesday is another wet day, with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Rain will spread across the region through the early morning, with showers and a few storms both present. These will exit to the northeast through late morning and early afternoon, leaving us drier through midday. Then, another round works in south of a warm front during the afternoon and evening. This is when we may see a chance for an isolated strong storm, but overall our severe threat is low.
TONIGHT: Overnight, we'll trend drier as storms push east. Skies remain cloudy, and temperatures warm - in the low 60s and upper 50s.
EXTENDED: Thursday brings a chance for some spotty showers before to near sunrise, then a better chance for showers and storms bubbling up during the afternoon. Spotty rainfall and highs in the low 70s come ahead of a cold front that will clear us out overnight into Friday. With that said, a wave brings us another batch of clouds and a chance at a shower Friday afternoon. Friday's highs will be similarly stuck near 70. These comfortable temperatures stick around a bit longer, with highs expected in the 70s over the weekend. Sunshine becomes more prevalent, though, as a dry pattern takes shape Saturday through early next week. As for the rounds of rain, we have a flood watch in place for the lake region to near I-44 where repeated rainfall will lead to a flood risk. Here we could pick up another inch of rain, but less is expected to the north.
