Man seriously injured in Pettis County crash

SEDALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Sedalia man was seriously injured in a crash Monday on Highway 65 at Grand Avenue in Pettis County, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The report states that William Marquess, 52, of Smithton, was driving a 2015 Freightliner M2 southbound and failed to yield to a 2015 Freightliner Cascada – driven by Steven Olinger, 74, of Bloomfield, Iowa.

Marquess pulled into the path of Olinger’s vehicle, causing the Cascada to hit the M2, the report states. Marquess’ vehicle overturned. He was flown to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries, the report states.

The report states that both drivers were wearing seatbelts and that both vehicles were totaled.
