Driver arrested, accused of DWI after three injured in Randolph County UTV crash

JACKSONVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

The driver of a 2020 Honda Talon 1000X UTV was arrested after a crash early Sunday morning in Randolph County left two others hurt.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Matthew Wheeler, 19, of Jacksonville was driving too fast causing him to go off the side of the road. The crash happened on Route Y, about 1.6 miles north of Route J.

The UTV flipped and hit a tree causing Jerek Henage, 19, of Moberly, to be thrown from it. He was not reported to be wearing a helmet in the report.

Troopers said a third passenger, Tiffany Green, 19, of Centralia was also hurt. She was reported to be the only one wearing a helmet.

Green and Henage were both taken to Moberly Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Wheeler was taken to Samaritan Hospital in Macon with serious injuries, where he was arrested. It is unknown if he was wearing a safety device.

Troopers arrested Wheeler on two counts of driving while influenced resulting in serious injury. He was released according to the arrest report.

Charges have yet to appear on Casenet.
