A St. Louis man was seriously injured in Audrain County after hitting a culvert Friday night.

53-year-old Lee Harrell was taken to the University Hospital after he crashed his car at 9:00 P.M. in Audrain County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Harrell was traveling south on Audrain Road 711 in his 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, when he began driving off the left side of the roadway. Harrell then overcorrected when returning to the roadway. He then traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck the culvert.

MSHP says it is still unclear whether Harrell was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
