MORGAN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 93-year-old St. Joseph man suffered serious injuries Tuesday in a crash in Morgan County on Highway 5, about 100 feet north of Twin Bays Road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The crash occurred as Susan M. Pierce, 61, of De Kalb, Missouri, failed to “operate” a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado as it was heading southbound on Highway 5, according to the report. The vehicle went off the right side of the road, hit an embankment and overturned.

Ray Krumme was a passenger in the vehicle and suffered a serious injury. He was flown to University Hospital, according to the crash report. An MU Health Care spokesperson told ABC 17 News in an email that Krumme is in critical condition.

Pierce sustained moderate injuries and was brought to Lake Regional Hospital by ambulance, according to the report. She and Krume were both wearing seatbelts.

The Chevy was totaled.
