BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Three Callaway County teenagers suffered serious injuries in a crash Tuesday afternoon on southbound Highway 63 at East Crofton Hall Road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The crash occurred as a 2012 Toyota Highlander – driven by Brenda Birdsong, 60, of Huntsville -- began to slow down to make a right turn and was rear-ended by a 2010 Nissan Altima – driven by a 16-year-old boy from Fulton.

Both vehicles went off the right side of the road, according to the crash report.

The Fulton teen and two 15-year-old boys from Auxvasse had serious injuries and were brought to University Hospital in Columbia by ambulance. The 16-year-old was wearing a seatbelt, while his passengers were not, the report states.

Birdsong suffered minor injuries and was also brought to University Hospital in by ambulance. She was wearing a seatbelt.

Both vehicles were totaled.

The driving lane was shut down for 45 minutes, according to a Facebook post from the Boone County Fire Protection District.
