Wrongful death lawsuit filed against Missouri Highway Transportation Commission for 2018 crash

ASHLAND, Mo. (KMIZ)

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against the Missouri Highway Transportation Commission in connection with a deadly 2018 crash.

According to court documents, Jesseca sage was killed after her vehicle traveled off of Highway 63 near Bonne Femme Creek.

The lawsuit claims a lack of certain safety features on the road is to blame for the crash.

The lawsuit claims there was no shielding or guardrail in place to prevent the car from leaving the roadway. There was also no adequate Clear-Zone on the right side of southbound Highway 63, no proper slope or conditions for a driver to recover.

The suit is seeking at least $25,000 in damages.

We asked the Missouri Department of Transportation for comment and will update you once we hear back.
