One person dead after car crashes off Highway 63 in Boone County

UPDATE: The Highway Patrol says a 15-year-old was the driver of the car. She has moderate injuries. They say her mother, 50-year-old Jessica Sage, was killed in the crash. Both were wearing seatbelts.

According to fire crews on scene, the car ran off the right side of Highway 63 south, jumped Bonne Femme Creek and ended up on the opposite side of the creek.

Jessica Sage was pronounced dead on scene.

UPDATE: The Boone County Fire Protection District confirms one person is dead and another is hurt in the crash near Highway 63 at Bonne Femme Creek.

ORIGINAL: Emergency crews are working to clear a serious crash in south Columbia on Monday afternoon.

According to Boone County Joint Communications, crews are working to clear the scene in the southbound lanes of Highway 63 at Bonne Femme Creek around 4:30 p.m.

BOONE CO JOINT COM: Motor Vehicle Collision S Hwy 63 SB at Bonne Femme Creek. Use caution, avoid area if possible.

Drivers are asked to use caution while in the area.

Investigators haven’t said how many vehicles were involved or the extent of injuries, if any.
