Fayette man hurt in Interstate 70 crash

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

UPDATE: A Fayette man suffered serious injuries in a Friday morning crash on Interstate 70.

Steven Ross, 37, was hurt when his Ford Focus went off the road and hit a parked semi-trailer while driving westbound near the 117 mile marker of Interstate 70 west of Columbia, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Ross, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by ambulance to University of Missouri Hospital.

The crash happened at about 5:15 a.m. and closed the interstate while first responders worked.

ORIGINAL: Interstate 70 westbound near the Harrisburg exit is back open after a crash involving a tractor-trailer Friday morning.

The Missouri Department of Transportation said the crash was reported near mile marker 117.

Boone County Fire Protection District spokesman Gale Blomenkamp said it appeared the tractor-trailer was on the shoulder when it was rear-ended by the other vehicle.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was extricated and taken to the hospital for their injuries.
