Improve I-70 Project lane closures between Paris Road and Highway 63 continue

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Lane closures continue on I-70 from Paris Road to U.S. 63 in Columbia for the Missouri Department of Transportation's Improve I-70 Project.

One lane will be closed between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. as MoDOT crews will take part in overnight construction until the end of January. According to MoDoT, this will help provide fewer traffic impacts during construction. The new alignment will be closer to eastbound I-70 and will be
separated by a new concrete barrier wall.

The Improve I-70 Project continues to take shape as the goal is to expand I-70 to three lanes going east and westbound across the state.

Crews have finished pouring concrete between Columbia and Kingdom City of what will be the inside shoulder and the new lane headed westbound. Now crews will move on to pouring concrete in the same area, for what will become the inside shoulder and new lane going eastbound.

MoDOT have also been construction the new bridge along U.S. 63 between Broadway and Conley Road that will move traffic north. Crews will also be starting work on the northbound U.S. 63 and westbound I-70 fly over bridge, which will be one of the larger new bridges in the project.
