Jefferson City to review solid waste survey results Wednesday

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Jefferson City's Administration Committee will meet Wednesday morning to discuss the results from the city's solid waste survey.

The survey was conducted from Oct. 3-Nov. 8 and received 400 responses from residents and 31 from area businesses. The survey asked residents and businesses about their satisfaction with the current trash and recycling services.

The final results shoed few complaints among residents but heavy frustration from businesses. Overcharging and lack of options were some of the most common complaints.

A majority of residents said they strongly agree that curbside recycling should be kept in the city's next contract. They also would like to see bulky item pick up in both the fall and spring.

Once the survey results are analyzed by the Administration Committee, there will be public meeting that will give residents and business owners the opportunity to go over the finds and share anymore thoughts.

  • Public Meeting No. 1: 10:30 a.m.-noon Thursday, Dec. 12 at the City Council chambers
  • Public Meeting No. 2: 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 at the City Council chambers

The city hopes to have a new contract in place sometime during 2025.

Wednesday's meeting begins at 7:30 a.m. at City Hall in Jefferson City.
