Multiple Veterans Day events being held across Mid-Missouri Monday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

In honor of Veterans Day, multiple events are being held across Mid-Missouri to honor fallen soldiers.

At noon, The University of Missouri will hold its 98th annual wreath-laying ceremony that began in 1926 to honor fallen Alumni. This year's guest speaker will be Col. Lindsey Decker from the Missouri Army National Guard. Decker currently commands the 35th Military Police Brigade based at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, Missouri, and serves full-time as the director of manpower and personnel for the Missouri National Guard.

In Fulton at 11a.m., there will be a rededication of a Memorial monument at the old courthouse at 10 East Fifth St. honoring those soldiers that lost their lives during the wars of WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. A new discovery of a fallen WWI soldier from Callaway County name will be added to the monument.

The United States Exercise Tiger Foundation will host a wreath placement ceremony at the Boone County War Memorial Plaza at 9:30 a.m. The USTF will also be presenting medals at the Bluffs nursing home Veterans Day event at 10 a.m.
