Fort Leonard Wood soldier found dead

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A soldier at Mid-Missouri's Fort Leonard Wood who was reported missing was found dead Monday.

The U.S. Army base in Pulaski County posted a social media alert asking for help finding Sgt. Sarah Roque on Sunday. She had last been seen in the area of the base and her family and commanders could not contact her, the post says.

The Army followed up Monday morning saying Roque had been found dead. The investigation into how she died is ongoing, the Army says.

Roque was from Indiana and was a bridge crew member and mine dog handler, according to a social media post from the base.

Roque was 23.
