Hundreds of Mid-Missouri teachers set to get free school supplies Tuesday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

KidSmart and Ameren to host a drive-thru for hundreds of Mid-Missouri teachers to pick up free school supplies.

A total of 300 teachers from across Mid-Missouri will be at the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter on Conley Road to have their cars loaded up with $400,000 worth of supplies. Teachers from 43 eligible schools have pre-registered for the event.

This is the first time this pilot program has come to Mid-Missouri and can help a total of 10,000 students, according to a KidSmart press release.

Teachers will be greeted by KidSmart and Ameren Missouri volunteers along with several other community volunteers from Walmart, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Starbucks.
