20 arrests made by MSHP Troop F so far during July 4 counting period
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A number of arrests have been by the Missouri State Highway Patrol this holiday weekend, and most of the arrests in Mid-Missouri are for drunk driving accusations.
The MSHP counting period for Independence Day weekend started 6 p.m. Friday and will run through July 4. The counting period is designed to help MSHP track how well the department keeps Missouri roads safe.
It's also a way for them to track traffic trends when traffic is at a high volume.
MSHP Troop F covers much of Mid-Missouri and has made 20 arrests so far this holiday weekend, with the bulk of them – 12 – occurring Saturday. Twelve of the 20 arrests involved driving while intoxicated, according to arrest reports, while four boating while intoxicated arrests were reported.
Seven crashes have occurred in Troop F’s jurisdiction, but none of them have resulted in fatal or serious injuries.
Troop B – which covers northern Missouri and includes Randolph and Macon counties – has made nine arrests so far this period. Eight of those nine arrests were for DWI. Eight crashes have been reported. There has been one crash in Marceline that included a serious injury. No fatalities have been reported.
Out on the water, the patrol is reporting one boat crash and one drowning at The Lake Of The Ozarks.
