One man killed, another hurt in separate boating incidents at Lake of the Ozarks

CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has reported two boating incidents over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, both at the Lake of the Ozarks.

A Kansas City man drowned late Sunday night at the 43-mile mark of the main channel at Bollinger Creek Cove.

According to the drowning report, James Roy, 56, was last seen near a secured vessel. Troopers said that it is unclear how Roy entered the water but he did not resurface.

A St. Louis man was hurt a few hours earlier when he was thrown from a boat at the 13.5-mile mark of the main channel.

Troopers reported that Michael Rogers, 53, was seriously hurt after the boat hit rough waves, causing Rogers to be thrown overboard.

Rogers was taken to Lake Regional Hospital. No one else was hurt.

Neither of the two men was reported to be wearing a life jacket.
