Randolph County clerk announces resignation
RANDOLPH COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Randolph County's clerk announced his plans to resign from the position.
According to Will Ellis' resignation letter, which was submitted to Gov. Mike Parson Monday, his resignation is effective March 1. Ellis' term was set to expire at the end of the year.
Ellis said he has been in the position for 12 years. Gov. Parson will appoint the next county clerk. In his letter, Ellis asked the governor to consider Terri Maddox for his replacement.
"She is currently my Chief Deputy Clerk and is very familiar to the complete operation of the office of County Clerk and the Election process with over 7 years as my righthand person." Ellis wrote. "I truly believe Ms. Maddox would be the best fit to the citizens of Randolph County for a smooth and efficient transition."
The county clerk is an elected position with a four-year term. Responsibilities include keeping records of orders and rules related to the county commission, reviewing voter precinct boundaries and conducting elections.
