Tracking a soaker of an Easter along with chances for strong storms

TODAY: Friday is a warm and mostly dry day before storms return this afternoon. Today is an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day. Read our latest blog for more information. Highs will reach low 80s ahead of a cold front that will stir a chance for storms capable of hail and damaging winds primarily. Our tornado threat is incredibly low today.

TONIGHT: Our severe threat will wane overnight, but the rain will continue. Temperatures fall into the 50s by sunrise.

EXTENDED: There won't be much sun to see at sunrise, as the heavy rain will give way to steady and moderate rainfall overnight and into Saturday. The cold front will stall overhead this weekend, leaving a path for multiple waves of rain through the weekend. This keeps us cool, in the 50s, on Saturday. Sunday, we may see the boundary lift north as a warm front ahead of an area of low pressure. This introduces 60s and a chance for a strong storm or two. We could see storms capable of all types of severe weather on Easter Sunday. We'll likely be wet regardless of storm chances, so egg hunts continue to look like an indoor activity this year. Temperatures will remain in the 60s Monday, but with drier weather. We'll add rain chances by Tuesday afternoon, and keep them through the middle of next week. Through the weekend, we stand a chance to pick up 1-3+ inches of rain, raising a concern for areal and flash flooding. Always remember to never drive through flooded roads, especially those where the water obscures your view of the road itself.
