MFA Oil acquires assets of Gygr-Gas

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

MFA Oil Company acquired assets of Gygr-Gas on Monday, the company said in a Friday press release

The purchase includes an office and warehouse in Boonville, trucks, and bulk storage tanks in Missouri near Desoto, Fulton, Moberly and Sunrise Beach, the release states. The Gygr-Gas office in Desoto was not part of the deal.

“We look forward to the opportunity to work with any customers who previously bought their propane from Gygr-Gas,” Kenny Steeves, senior vice president of MFA Oil operations, said in a press release. “This acquisition further strengthens our supply position in central Missouri and will enable us to continue to provide exceptional service to our members and customers in the surrounding areas.”

Former Gygr-Gas customers are encouraged to call MFA Oil to learn about propane pricing and contracting opportunities at 660-631-9979. The number for customers near DeSoto is 573-438-3762. MFA Oil plans to reopen the office at 12790 Old Highway 40 in Boonville on July 17.

Gygr-Gas ceased operations and stopped filling customers’ propane tanks in in December.

Then-Attorney General Eric Schmitt filed a lawsuit against Gygr-Gas in December, alleging it abruptly closed in the cold winter months, failed to notify its customers that it would stop making the propane deliveries they depended on, and failed to refund customer prepayments for propane gas. Gov. Mike Parson had also signed a pair of executive orders at the time that made it easier for companies to refill propane tanks owned by other gas companies.
