Second search planned for missing Columbia man by Missing Missouri
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Columbia Police Department is asking for the public's help in searching for a missing man.
Daniel Lee Thompson, 41, from Columbia was reported missing on July 7. He was last heard from on June 26, according to Columbia Police.
CPD took to its Facebook page to post for the second time this week asking for the public's help locating Thompson.
He is about 5-foot-8-inches tall with brown eyes and black hair and a beard. Thompson's car was found abandoned in the Rocky Forks Conservation area.
Missouri Missing is coordinating a second search on Saturday, Aug. 5. The last search was held on Saturday.
"They need to know where he's at, and take care of that the way that they need to take care of it, for their own well-being," Missing Missouri CEO Ra'Vae Edwards-Moore said.
Edwards-Moore said the search will take place at the same location, where Thompsons' car was missing.
"We were informed by people who know Daniel very well that Finger Lakes was an area that he likes to go to, to hike and have some serenity and time for himself," Edwards-Moore said.
The park covers around 1,100 acres of land, making the search tricky according to Edwards Moore.
"It's very, you know, overgrown and bushy. And so, of course we want to make sure our searchers and volunteers are safe out there as well," Edwards-Moore said.
Anyone with information about Thompson's whereabouts is asked to call the police.
