Mizzou football set for fourth-straight Thursday night opener
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
For the fourth-straight season, Faurot Field will be rocking on a Thursday night to open up the season.
On Thursday, Mizzou football announced that its season opener against Central Arkansas is being moved to Thursday, Aug. 28 at 6:30 p.m. It is the fourth-consecutive year that MU has opened up in that prime-time slot and the eighth weeknight game at Memorial Stadium since 2015.
"We're excited to keep this new tradition going with Mizzou football opening its season on a Thursday night in CoMo leading into the Labor Day weekend," head coach Eli Drinkwitz said in a press release. "We want to thank Central Arkansas and the SEC for agreeing to the change. We're looking forward to seeing a packed Memorial Stadium and continuing our sellout steak into the 2025 season."
The Tigers will come into the 2025 season fresh off of its second-straight 10-win year under Coach Drink. The program is currently also riding a 10-game winning streak at Faurot Field, as well as 12-game home sellouts streak.
Over the past two seasons, Mizzou has posted a 21-5 overall record, which is tied for third-best in program history.
Coach Drinkwitz and company will also host Kansas, Louisiana, South Carolina, Massachusetts, Alabama, Texas A&M and Mississippi State in 2025.
