Police, bars prepare for Thanksgiving festivities & keeping roads safe

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City Police Department will have more patrols out Wednesday with more people out celebrating the holidays. Local bars are making preparations to ensure guests stay safe.

"Traditionally, this is probably the busiest night in downtown Jeff City," said J Pfenny's Sports Grill & Pub Manager Mitch Rademan.

He said the bar will have extra security guards at each door.

"We are going to have two guys at each door checking I.D.s," Rademan said. "We are going to make sure everyone is here to have a good time and no one is getting out of line."

Rademan said he wants to ensure guests get home safely with sober rides.

"We've got the cab numbers written down at each bar station should someone need a ride home," he said. "I've also spoken to several Uber drivers who are more than ready for the evening."

To help stop impaired driving, Lyft is offering a holiday promotion of $5.00 with the code SHOWMELYFT for a one-time discount.
