Police investigation continues after evidence was found in dumpster at store in Fayette
FAYETTE, Mo. (KMIZ)
On Tuesday, the City of Fayette's attorney Nathan Nickolaus told ABC 17 News that evidence was found inside of a dumpster at a grocery store and was not disposed of properly by a police officer.
Nickolaus said he wasn't aware of which specific store the evidence was found and said he was unsure of if an officer had been put on leave since the incident occurred. The investigation is ongoing.
On Wednesday, an ABC 17 News reporter went to "C&R Market" in Fayette to find out if the evidence was found at the store. Managers of the store declined to comment.
Residents in the area said on Wednesday that they were aware of something being found, but did not know specifics.
ABC 17 News reached out to the Fayette Police Department for comment.
