Police evidence found in dumpster at grocery store in Fayette

FAYETTE, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Fayette's attorney Nathan Nickolaus told ABC 17 News that police evidence was found inside of a dumpster at a grocery store in the city.

Nickolaus said the evidence was not disposed of properly by a police officer, but declined to comment further, saying the incident is a personnel matter. Nickolaus said the department is investigating.

During a Board of Alderman meeting on Tuesday night, Stephanie Gilpin with Randolph Caring Community spoke on the issue, but declined speaking with an ABC 17 News reporter. ABC 17 News reached out the organization for comment.

Board members declined to comment during Tuesday night's meeting, as well as a police officer.

ABC 17 News reached out to the Mayor Jeremy Dawson for comment.
