The bridge that was under construction was the Salt Creek bridge on Highway 240 in Howard County.
MoDOT crews were doing routine maintenance on the bridge when they noticed irregularities, according to the spokesman. Crews then alerted inspectors.
The tweet stated that the construction was completed ahead of schedule. MoDOT said on Nov. 2 that the bridge was expected to be closed up to five weeks.
