Doyle appointed as interim Fulton city administrator

FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Fulton City Council announced in a Monday press release that it appointed Courtney Doyle as its interim city administrator.

The City stated the appointment occurred at a special session Friday, after Renee Tyler was fired from the position the same day. The City has not given a reason for Tyler’s termination. Tyler was announced as the director of administration in 2022.

The motion to fire Tyler was offered by Ward 1 Councilwoman Valerie Sebacher and was seconded by Ward 4 Councilwoman Lauren Nelson. According to City records, five members voted in favor while three others chose to abstain from voting.

The executive order signed by Fulton Mayor Steve Myers states Tyler's termination was effective immediately. The search for Tyler’s permanent replacement has not started, according to City officials.

Tyler told ABC 17 News her termination came as a shock to her, but didn’t have anything else to add.

The press release states Doyle is a lifelong Fulton resident and has worked for the City since  2013. She was previously the City Clerk before becoming the assistant director of administration in 2022.

Doyle was appointed as the interim with a unanimous vote from council members during the special session.

"We are dedicated to achieving excellence within city government," Doyle said in the release. "Whether it is delivering exceptional service to our residents or cultivating an outstanding work environment for our staff, our goals and mission remain steadfast. I am honored to have earned the trust of the Mayor and City Council as we continue our crucial work for the betterment of our city."

ABC 17 News reached out to the three members who abstained from voting, Ward 3 Councilman Alan Combs and Ward 2 Councilman Jeff Stone declined to comment at this time.  ABC 17 News also reached out to Meyers and Doyle, but they were not available.

Fulton's next City Council meeting is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
