FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)
Gov. Mike Parson on Tuesday presented a Municipal Utility Emergency Loan Program check to the City of Fulton for energy spike costs incurred during a February cold snap.

He was joined by Dru Buntin, the acting director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Lowe Cannell, the Fulton mayor, and Darrell Dunlap, the Fulton superintendent.
The Municipal Utility Emergency Loan Program is designed to help ease the impact after the cold snap in Mid-Missouri back in February. Fulton had to pay $3.4 million for natural gas needs over just a five day period.
In May, Gov. Parson signed legislation to provide $50 million for interest-free emergency loans.
Around 52 municipalities have applied individually or through municipal utility commissions since the department began accepting applications on June 2. Fulton is the first municipality to receive a loan through the program.
