During the Board of Curators meeting on Wednesday, University of Missouri leaders are scheduled to vote on a new multi-million dollar practice facility and increasing tuition and fees for students for the upcoming school year.

Tuition & Fees

If the board approves the proposed tuition increases, out-of-state and in-state undergraduate and graduate Mizzou students will see a five percent jump in tuition cost, starting this fall.

This proposed increase would come out to an additional $15.30 per credit hour for in-state undergraduate students and an additional $46 per credit hour for out-of-state undergrads. This would equate to an addition of about $229 per semester for in-state students and $690 per semester for out-of-state students taking 15 credits.

According to the University of Missouri's current admissions costs for the 2020-2021 school year, tuition and fees for Missouri residents come to $13,264 per year. Tuition and fees for out-of-state students are set at $30,468 per year. These costs are based on 14 credit hours per semester.

According to the proposal, the school says the tuition increase will be "used to make investments to meet the important mission of student success, academic excellence and meaningful engagement."

The MU College of Arts & Science course fee is proposed to increase to $87 over three years from fiscal years 2022-2024.

A proposed increase for the College of Veterinary Medicine, a clinical supplemental fee of $2,000 per semester, is also set to be put to a vote. This would be applicable for students in their third and fourth years of study.

New Indoor Practice Facility

The proposed new indoor practice facility budget is set at $33,140,000 and will be funded by gifts that have been given to the school over a time span of seven years.

The University of Missouri says a new full-sized indoor football practice facility is needed because the current one at the Devine Pavilion is only 70 yards compared to a full-sized playing field of 100 yards.

If approved, the new indoor practice facility would sit adjacent to the Mizzou Football Facility, which was completed in 2019. The new facility will include additional restrooms along with exam and storage spaces, according to the current proposal.

The indoor practice facility is set to be completed by December 2022.

The curators meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. You can watch the Zoom meeting here.
