Columbia high schools hold graduation ceremonies this weekend
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
All Columbia public high schools will hold its graduation ceremonies on Friday and Saturday.
A Friday press release from Columbia Public Schools states nearly 1,400 students will graduate. Douglass High School held the first graduation on Friday morning at Jesse Hall Audition at the University of Missouri’s campus. The release stated that 59 students received their diplomas.
Rock Bridge High School will hold its graduation at 7 p.m. Friday at Mizzou Arena. The release states that 498 students will walk across the stage, including 14 valedictorians, one U.S. presidential scholar and 226 graduating with academic honors, which means they hold at least a 3.5 GPA.
Hickman High School’s graduation will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mizzou Arena. The release says 463 students will graduate, including six valedictorians and 137 with academic honors.
Battle High School will celebrate its 10th graduating class at 5 p.m. Saturday at Mizzou Arena. The release states 353 students will graduate, including one valedictorian and 62 with academic honors.
The press release also states that 48 CPS students will receive an associate’s degree, in addition to their high school diploma through the Columbia Public Schools Early College Program. CPS partners with Moberly Area Community College that allows students to pursue a two-year degree at MACC while also completing their high school coursework, the release states.
All graduations will be streamed on CPS’ website.
