Judge sentences Mexico man to shock program for October shooting

AUDRAIN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Mexico, Missouri, man will head to prison for an October shooting.

An Audrain County judge sentenced Michael White Jr. on Monday to 10 years in prison for unlawful use of a weapon and four years in prison for resisting arrest. The sentences will run concurrently for a total of 10 years.

White agreed to a plea deal at the hearing after he previously entered a not guilty plea on the charges.

The Audrain County Prosecutor's Office agreed to drop a charge of armed criminal action against White. White could get released early to probation if he completes a 120-day shock incarceration program.

Police arrested White after a shooting on Oct. 7, 2021, in the 1000 block of West Breckenridge Street in Mexico, Missouri. Officers said witnesses reported a man fired a gun when he drove by them.

Police said the gunfire damaged a nearby parked vehicle, but no one was hurt.
