FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Callaway County prosecutor has charged a Fulton man after an argument between neighbors led to one of them being shot with a crossbow on Wednesday.

Thurman Estep is charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

The victim called Fulton police on Wednesday at 11:58 after Estep allegedly shot him with an arrow in the stomach. The victim said he went up to Estep's door when he got shot.

Estep told police that he had shut off the water to the victim's apartment because Estep needed to talk with him. When the victim confronted Estep about turning off the water, Estep got his crossbow fearing for his safety then the victim allegedly lunged at Estep and that is when Estep shot him according to court documents.

The victim told investigators that Estep told him he was going to shoot him with the crossbow but the victim did not believe Estep would.

The victim told police that the arrow went through his abdomen, hit his liver and went out his back. The victim is currently at University Hospital.
