51-year-old Columbia man killed in late-night shooting at Waffle House

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police say one person was killed in a late Sunday night shooting at the Waffle House restaurant on Vandiver Drive.

A release from the police department sent on Monday morning said 51-year-old Reginald E. Ball, of Columbia, died in the shooting.

Officers responded to the restaurant on a report of shots fired just before 11 p.m., the release said. Police found Ball in the parking lot with a life-threatening injury.

The police department said authorities started providing emergency aid but Ball was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not say if anyone was arrested in connection with the shooting. Crews at the scene told ABC 17 one person had been detained in the parking lot.

Possible suspect information was not included in the release.

The department's criminal investigations division is investigating the shooting. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the police department at 573-874-7652 or CrimeStoppers at 573-875-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.
