BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Boone County Sheriff's Department says a man was arrested in connection with a Monday shooting north of Columbia.

Sheriff's department spokesman Sgt. Brian Leer said 19-year-old Cenneth J. Tucker was arrested in connection with the shooting.

Leer said in a release deputies were called to the intersection of Mauller Road and Moberly Drive at 2:25 p.m. after a 21-year-old man said had been shot.

Deputies said the shooting victim was found inside a car that had crashed off the roadway. The man was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, Leer said.

The sheriff's department spokesman said the shooting victim was in stable condition Tuesday morning.

According to the release, Tucker was seen leaving a vacant residence near the shooting scene.

Deputies searched Tucker and the residence and found evidence linking him to the shooting, the release said.

Boone County Jail records said Tucker is suspected of several crimes including first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon.

As of Tuesday, no charges have been filed in the case.

Tucker was held in jail custody without bond Tuesday morning, records said.
