MEXICO, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mexico Public Safety Department said Friday morning an 18-year-old suspected in connection with a Wednesday night deadly shooting turned himself in Thursday morning.

The release sent out by department spokesman Brice Mesko said Javone L. Hornbeak, of Mexico, was arrested on suspicion of two felony charges.

Tornez Burton, 17, was killed in the shooting and Jzyeshawn Palmer, 17, was shot in the leg.

Mesko said Hornbeak turned himself over to the department just before 10 a.m. He was later taken to the Audrain County Jail, the release said.

The release didn't say how Hornbeak was connected to the shooting.

"The investigation into what occurred is ongoing and there is the possibility that Hornbeak could face additional charges or that others could be charged as well," Mesko said in the release.

Officers said Burton, Palmer and two others were fighting in the area after a previous disagreement earlier in the night.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to the public safety department at 573-473-5800 or Crimestoppers at 800-392-TIPS.
