Jefferson City police release name of Wednesday homicide victim

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City Police Department released the name of a man killed a shooting early Wednesday morning.

According to the release, 35-year-old Demond Jones, of Jefferson City, was shot and later died.

The release from police department spokesman Lt. David Williams said Crimestoppers offered $500 for any information that leads to an arrest. Williams said no arrests have been made in the shooting.

Police responded to the 900 block of Jackson Street just after midnight on Wednesday and found Jones in the road suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers said Jones was taken to a Jefferson City hospital and stabilized, he later died while being transferred to a Columbia hospital.

Williams said the shooting was still under investigation.
