Judge approves delay for Columbia psychologist sexual assault case

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Boone County judge approved a delay for the sexual assault case of a Columbia psychologist.

The trial was canceled for Kurt Bumby after prosecutors requested it.

A grand jury indicted Bumby back in 2020 for sex crimes.

The indictment claims Bumby committed two counts of second-degree sodomy in 2010 and 2011. A possible victim told authorities in 2019 that he and Bumby had a sexual relationship when he was in middle school.

He has a status hearing set for the afternoon of July 5.

He also faces a jury trial in St. Louis County in 2023 on similar charges.
