Jefferson City man charged after sexually assaulting person with an intellectual disability

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City man is facing sexual assault charges after an incident in Oct.  2021 involving a person with a moderate intellectual disability.

A Boone County prosecutor has charged Michael Coon with two counts of first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy – aggravated sexual offense.

The victim told investigators, Coon allegedly sexually assaulted her when Coon took the victim and her parents to Columbia for a hospital appointment. Coon then took the victim to a “sex shop” and then back to the hospital where he forced himself on her, according to a probable cause statement.

According to online court documents, Coon does not have a defense attorney listed.

Online court records indicate Coon has not been arrested at this time.
