Cole County woman arrested after chase and assault of an officer Saturday night

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Cole County Sheriff's Department arrested a woman after a Saturday morning chase reaching speeds over 80 mph going in and out of traffic.

According to court documents, the Cole County deputy attempted to stop Dorothy Hernandez after the deputy witnessed the vehicle make several lane violations according to court documents.

During a traffic stop according to the probable cause statement, Deputy Kyle Petty reports that Hernandez had watery and glassy eyes. Hernandez then hit the deputy with her fist and bit his finger causing him to bleed according to court documents.

Hernandez then sped off, eventually crashing through a fence at the House of Bargains and then attempting to get away on foot before being taken into custody.

While in custody according to court records, Hernandez told the arresting officer she might have Hepatitis C.

During the investigation, law enforcement found empty alcohol containers in Hernandez's vehicle and meth paraphernalia.

Hernandez is charged with DWI, resisting arrest and 3rd-degree assault.

The court did not give Hernandez a bond.

Hernandez's next court date is Nov. 2.
