Moberly man arrested after Wednesday stabbing
MOBERLY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Moberly man was arrested Thursday morning after an investigation into a stabbing Wednesday night on the 600 block of Adams St.
Police responded to an assault of a 40-year-old man that was stabbed in the abdomen. The victim was taken for medical treatment to University Hospital.
Detectives say an argument started between the suspect and victim about personal property causing the stabbing.
The suspect drove off before the police arrived but was later found at 10:15 a.m. Thursday at his residence.
The suspect temporarily barricaded himself in his home refusing to surrender himself to law enforcement. After 45 minutes surrendered to authorities without incident.
During the investigation, the suspect said a confrontation took place at his property but he says he defended himself from the victim who was allegedly attacking him, according to a release.
Officials say the suspect was released pending further investigation and review by the Randolph County Prosecutor’s Office.
The victim is reported to be in stable condition at University Hospital according to a release.
