MEXICO, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two Mexico men have been charged with four felonies apiece in connection with a Saturday shooting.

Monterio M. Truss, 25, and Branden J. Truss, 28, were each charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and two counts each of unlawful use of a weapon, according to online court records.

The Mexico Public Safety Department says in a news release that officers found a man shot Saturday night in the 200 block of South Alabama Street.

Officers found a 46-year-old man had been shot and taken to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the department says in a news release. A probable cause statement says police found the man lying face down in the front doorway of his home with gunshot wounds to his buttocks and right shoulder.

Officers learned that the man had been shot by people in a white Lincoln sedan, the release says. This was part of a dispute that had been going on throughout the day at various locations, per the release.

Monterio and Branden Truss chased a woman along several streets in Mexico, reaching high speeds at some points, according to a probable cause statement.

The probable cause statement says the shooters then went to the victim's home and shot him from the Lincoln when he came out to reason with them.

Shortly after officers responded to the scene, a deputy with the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department stopped the suspect vehicle and arrested Monterio Truss, 25. Branden Truss, 28, of Mexico, ran from the traffic stop and was not located, the release says.

Monterio Truss was jailed without bond, and a no-bond warrant was issued for Branden Truss' arrest.
